Computer science and information technology

The department was established on May 21, 2004 in preparation for the opening of the specialty “Social Informatics”.

Preparing bachelors and masters, the Department of Mathematical Modeling and Social Informatics (MMIS) is a graduating department from the 2017 enrollment in the specialties 122 “Computer Science”, 122 “Computer Science and Information Technology” (2016 enrollment), in the direction of training 6.040302 – “Informatics” (bachelors enrollment 2004-2015).

The department is a graduating department from the 2017 enrollment in the specialty 113 “Applied Mathematics” (specialization “Theoretical Foundations of Informatics and Cybernetics”) at the educational and scientific level of preparation of Doctors of Philosophy (PhD) and it has a postgraduate program in the specialty 01.05.01 “Theoretical Foundations of Informatics and Cybernetics” (enrollment 2014-2016).

From September 1, 2021, the department was renamed to the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT).

Head of the Department of MMSI (2004-2021) – Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Oleh Yemets, Laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Technology.

Since September 1, 2021, the Head of the Department of KNIT is Olena Olkhovska, PhD in Physics and Mathematics.
