A gift for a mother

08.05.22 is an international Mother’s Day. It is celebrated to commemorate the efforts of mothers and honor their value in our lives and in our society. In Ukraine, the holiday was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine of May 10, 1999 № 489/99. In 2022, the holiday falls on May 8.

07.05.22 there was a master class held for children of IDPs living in PUET dormitories. Svitlana Ivanivna Nestulia is the organizer of the event, Tetiana Ivanivna Teremetska, founder of the “Silhouette” Fashion Theater of the regional center of aesthetic education of a studying youth, is the master coach.

Children of primary and secondary school age were making wonderful “Angels” for their mothers.

We wish all mothers peace and good health and we wish Ukrainian mothers a quick end of the war and safety for all children, because we are always children in our mothers’ eyes. Everything will be Ukraine!

The history of the holiday.

For the first time, it was established by the US Congress on May 8, 1914. After the First World War, this holiday was celebrated in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the German state, the Czechoslovak Republic. Following the United States’ example, the second Sunday of May was declared a holiday in 85 countries.

From the 17th to the 19th century, on the fourth Sunday of Lent, the Mother’s Sunday was celebrated in Great Britain to honor mothers throughout the country.

For the first time, the idea of devoting a day to celebrate the unity of mothers in the struggle for peace appeared in pacifist environment. In the United States, the idea was first published in 1872 by the famous American pacifist Julia Ward Howe. “Mother’s Day”, according to Julia Ward, is a day of unity of mothers in the struggle for peace around the world.

After the end of the First World War, Mother’s Day began to be celebrated in Europe.
