GEORGIAN CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL CENTER OF PUET PARTICIPATED THE “EUROPEAN VALUES AND CULTURAL DIPLOMACY: YOUTH MEETINGS” PROJECT

On November 17-20, 2020, the head of the Georgian cultural and educational center of PUET, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor Yanina Barybina took part in the project “EUROPEAN VALUES AND CULTURAL DIPLOMACY: YOUTH MEETINGS”.

The event was supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Scientific Society for the History of Diplomacy and International Relations, the Institute of International Relations of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, the Representation of the Hans Seidel Foundation in Ukraine.

The partners of the event were: State Enterprise «General Directorate for Servicing Foreign Missions”, the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine, and the Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia.

Among the participants were: representatives of diplomatic missions, international NGOs; experts in diplomatic relations and cultural diplomacy from Ukraine and Georgia; students and teachers of leading higher education institutions of Ukraine and Georgia.

Yanina Barybina made a report “Unity of Cultures and Values ​​in the Activities of the Georgian Cultural and Educational Center of PUET”, presented the work of the Georgian Center and presented a television program from the series “A Story Told with Love”.

Cross-border youth forum “European values ​​and cultural diplomacy: youth meetings Ukraine – Georgia” opened:

Igor Dolgov – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Georgia;

David Bochorishvili – Chargé d’Affaires of Georgia in Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia;

Daniel Seiberling – Regional Head of the Hans Seidel Foundation in Ukraine, Moldova and Romania;

Markiyan Malsky – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Doctor of Economics, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv;

Zurab Khonelidze – Professor, Rector of Sukhum State University;

Iryna Matyash – Chairman of the Board of the Scientific Society for the History of Diplomacy and International Relations.

The topic of the day “Cultural diplomacy as a tool for mutual understanding of people” and speeches of experts were interesting:

Tatiana Filevska – creative director of the Ukrainian Institute;

Indira Dzagania – Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of International Relations and Intercultural Communications, Sukhum State University (Tbilisi);

Zurab Topuria – Specialist in Culture and Education of the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine;

Ana Mosashvili – expert of Sukhumi State University;

Ia Murgulia is a doctoral student at Sukhumi State University

The next topic of the day is “Ukraine-Georgia: common and unique, intangible heritage. Cultural diplomacy for the sake of mutual understanding. “

Everyone was impressed by the reports of experts:

Maryna Hrymych – Ukrainian writer, doctor of historical sciences, candidate of philological sciences, director of Duliby publishing house, cultural manager, member of the Writers’ Union of Ukraine, member of the PEN Club, member of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine;

Yevhen Klopotenko – Ukrainian culinary expert, chef, businessman, TV presenter;

Daria Karyakina is a public figure, the chairman of the board of the International Union NGO, the editor-in-chief of the online publication about the world theoutlook.com.ua and the general director of the OUTLOOK project, the organizer of the Outlook World Culture Festival.

The theme of the third day is “Cultural diplomacy and official diplomacy: points of contact and interaction.”

Among the well-known experts were:

Volodymyr Khandogiy – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, President of the Ukrainian Foreign Policy Association;

Grigol Katamadze – President of the Association of Taxpayers of Ukraine, Vice President of the European Association of Taxpayers, Member of the Supervisory Board of the Ukrainian Business Council, Member of the Board of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary;

Yanina Barybina – Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, Head of the Georgian Cultural and Educational Center of Poltava University of Economics and Trade.

The theme of the day was no less rich and meaningful: “Ukraine – Georgia: common and unique. Cultural diplomacy for the sake of mutual understanding.”
