ІV INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC-PRACTICAL CONFERENCE “LANGUAGE AND INTERCULTURAL COMMUNICATION”
On October 18-19, 2018 Poltava University of Economics and Trade held the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference “Language and Intercultural Communication”. The Department of Ukrainian, Foreign Languages and Translation together with the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine were the organizers and inspirers of this great event. Modern international and globalization processes affect the development of all countries and educational and cultural strategies of higher education institutions. This indicates the relevance of this conference.
We are proud that 9 countries were represented at this remarkable event: Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Moldova, Germany, Portugal, Turkey, Ukraine, Czech Republic. The conference was attended by well-known scientists in Ukraine and abroad: Yermolenko Svetlana – Doctor of Philology, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Stylistics, Language Culture and Sociolinguistics at the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; Gluhovtseva Ekaterina – Doctor of Philology, Professor, Head of the Department of Ukrainian Philology; Popova Irina – Doctor of Philology, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Ukrainian and Foreign Philology of the Dnipro National University.
The honorable guest of the scientific and practical conference, Poltava poetess-songwriter, journalist, Honored Artist of Ukraine Maria Boyko greeted participants by reading her poems.
The participants of the conference were greeted by PUET talented students. Future translators from English and German languages: Govoruha Maria, Lisova Anastasia, Ozbek Mustafa (Turkish Republic), Oliynik Oleksandr, Valery Rakhmanova, Anna Samonova performed stunning poetry in English, Spanish, German, Turkish, French. Jennifer Edache Eco (Nigeria), International Economic Relations Program first year student, magnificently read Lina Kostenko’s poetry. Vilonja Emil, Food Technologies and Engineering Program second year student, a participant of the 7th season of the Voice of the Country Show, royally performed songs in English and French.
Tetiana Onipko – Doctor of Historical Sciences, Head of the Department of Documentation and Information Activities in Economic Systems conducted a tour around Poltava region. The participants visited The Literary and Memorial Museums of Korolenko and Kotlyarevsky, as well as The Museum of Gogol’s Mansion and The National Museum of Ukrainian Pottery in Opishne.
Materials of the conference will be published in the collection of scientific works “Language and Intercultural Communication”.
