LEARNING NEW CULTURES AND GAINING EXPERIENCE

It has become a tradition to organize study trips for foreign students studying at Poltava University of Economics and Trade (PUET).
On April 3 2017, foreign students from Nigeria, Ghana, Pakistan, Palestine, Kuwait, Gambia, Turkey, India, Jordan, Gambia, Egypt and Morocco taking the foundation course at PUET could learn a lot of interesting facts about history, culture, customs and traditions of Poltava. They visited the Memorial Estate of Ivan Kotlyarevsky, saw around the Poltava Museum of Local Lore, the city historic center and its cultural attractions.
The excursion in English for foreign students was conducted by the Ukrainian university first-year and third-year students (group T-11, T-12, T-32). It was a good experience for Ukrainian students to apply their theoretical knowledge and English language skills in practice, because each of them has to be an experienced tour guide. Foreign students learned about historical events taken place in Poltava, prominent people who contributed to the development of historical and cultural heritage of the Poltava region and gained a familiarity with interesting places of the city. Both Ukrainian and foreign students extended their experience in intercultural communication, enriched their knowledge about customs and traditions of different countries, had fun and got positive emotions while communicating with each other.
