Presentation of the Fulbright Program in PUET
On March 29, 2018, Olga Prokopchuk, assistant of the Fulbright Program in Ukraine and Christopher Obermeier, American student met with PUET students and professors.
Christopher Obermeyer is American student in Ukraine under the Fulbright Public Policy Fellowship for Ministry of Education and Science in Ukraine.
The purpose of the meeting was to familiarize the audience with the opportunities offered by the Program and discuss the terms of participation in the Fulbright Scholarship for studies, internship and research at the US universities.
The Fulbright Program is sponsored by the US government. It plays a prominent role in the international education system. It has been successful since 1946, and now it is in 155 countries of the world, motivated by the idea of interaction and mutual understanding and based on knowledge and respect for the diverse world.
Since 1992 – about 1000 Ukrainians studied, trained, conducted research in the USA; over 650 Americans taught in Ukrainian higher education institutions and were engaged in scientific work.
For example, in 1993, PUET welcomed Grinnan Warren the US researcher (business administration) under the US Scholar Program.
The Fulbright Program announces the following contests:
Fulbright Graduate Student Program. Studying at the US universities from one to two years to receive a master’s degree. Senior students and graduates can take part in the competition. Applicants must have at least a bachelor’s degree at the time of the scholarship appointing.
The deadline for applications submission is May 16 each year.
Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant. Internship in teaching Ukrainian language (assistant to the US teachers) at the US universities / colleges. Teachers and young specialists specializing in linguistics, Ukrainian literature, translation studies, communications, journalism, American studies, and English language teaching can participate in the competition. Applicants must have at least bachelor’s degree at the time of the scholarship.
Deadline for submission of applications is June 1 every year.
Fulbright Scholar Program. The research in the US universities, research centers, libraries, museums, archives, etc. from three to nine months. Ph. Ds and doctors of science can participate in the competition; culture workers, librarians, journalists and lawyers; researchers without a degree with experience of at least five years; Postgraduate students and applicants on the eve of the defense.
Deadline for applications is October 15 every year.
Fulbright Research and Development Program. Conducting research in the US universities lasting from six to nine months. Persons under 40 years of age with two years of professional experience can participate in the competition: teachers; graduate students and researchers who do not yet have a degree; candidates of science (not later than 5 years after protection); administrators of institutions of higher education; employees of research institutions; journalists; specialists in library, museum and archives; specialists in the field of cultural management; employees of public organizations.
Deadline for applications is November 1 every year.
Areas of specialization: humanities and social sciences, exact, technical and natural sciences.
