PUET BECOMES A PARTNER IN PISA-2018 INTERNATIONAL MONITORING OF QUALITY

PISA program – analytical and comparative estimation of educational systems in 80 countries of the world. The main focus of the study is to measure students’ competences in reading, mathematics and natural sciences, which are not directly related to the mastery of school curricula. Much attention in the study is given to the study of factors affecting the successful training of students. The PISA study has been conducted since 2000 by testing the skills and knowledge of 15-year-old students – the age of the completion of the basic school and the formation of future professional skills and personal values of a citizen. PISA does not check the level of student achievement, but assesses how much a student can use the knowledge gained at school for possible life challenges.

In Ukraine, responsibility for organizing and conducting the PISA study is assigned to the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment. The participation of our country in the PISA study has several important aspects:

Obtaining objective information on the readiness of young citizens to live in a modern society in accordance with international standards; understanding of the factors that influence the efficiency of education in the country; the opportunity to make decisions and formulate a national educational policy based on real data on the state of the national education system.

For such an important monitoring and analytical mission, the project partners in Ukraine have been carefully selected. In our region, the University of Economics and Trade in Ukraine (PUET), a permanent and reliable partner of Kharkiv Regional Center for Educational Quality Assessment (KRCEQA), Higher Educational Establishment of Ucoopspilka (PUET) in conducting an external independent evaluation.

PUET and KRCEQA reached an agreement on the quality of conducting an international monitoring study on the quality of education PISA-2018. On March 19, 2018, Rector of PUET, Prof. O. Nestulia and the Director of KRCEQA O. Sidorenko signed an agreement on partnership. A joint effort will ensure a high level of project implementation and further cooperation with the international educational society.

The official events and celebrations on the occasion of the signing of the cooperation agreement were attended by Olena Kharchenko, Director of the Department of Education and Science of the Poltava Regional State Administration, and Olga Kharchenko, and Head of the Department of Education of the Executive Committee of the Poltava City Council Maritalishvili Lesia.
