PUET Pie battalion
This is what the Poltava Territorial Defense fighters jokingly called a group of volunteers from our university who organized the baking of delicious pies with different fillings in its confectionary shop.
The creation of this “subdivision” of the university was initiated by Tetiana Kostyshyna, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Head of the Department of HR Management and Labor Economics, with her daughter Anna. It was first joined by Larysa Stepanova and Tetiana Tetko, teachers of this department, and, later by acting director of the Interdisciplinary Institute for Advanced Training of Specialists Svitlana Soroka, and the Head of the Department of the National Mediation and Reconciliation Service in Poltava Oblast Oksana Atamaniuk. Zinaida Kononenko, a professional technologist, confectioner and baker, became volunteers’ mentor. Ihor Kostyshyn took up a job of a delivery driver.
So, every morning it was warm in the confectionery shop. Not only because of the ovens, but also due to the desire of volunteers to brighten up the soldiers of the Territorial Defense, the Armed Forces, the wounded in hospitals of Kharkiv, men at checkpoints, internally displaced persons. After all, it was nice to hear words of gratitude for the fragrant support and rhetorical — “Pie Battalion – in action!”
