Team Participation in ERASMUS + AESOP Project «Realization of student rights protection by implementation student ombudsman” in the Final Conference
On July 15-16, 2019, the PUET team participating in the ERASMUS + AESOP project «Realization of student rights protection by implementation student ombudsman “, implemented through EU funds, participated in the final conference ” Realization of student rights protection by implementation student ombudsman in the three countries of the Eastern Partnership – Georgia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan “. The final conference was held on the basis of the Project Coordinator of Akaki Tsereteli State University (Kutaisi, Georgia), where gathered all representatives of the international consortium – project teams from Poland, Italy, Great Britain, Finland, Austria, Azerbaijan, Ukraine and Georgia.
The work of the conference began with greetings and presentation of the general results of the project implementation by the coordinator. The teams from the universities of the European Union presented their own analysis of the results of the project, Eastern European partners and provided recommendations for the implementation of the newly created ombudsman offices.
According to the work plan of the conference, the final reports of the work of the teams of the participating universities of the Eastern Partnership countries were presented.
The PUЕT’s team presented the results of its activities within this project, demonstrating the three years of production stages:
research on the existence of violations of students’ rights at the university;
the constituent documents concerning the establishment of an ombudsman office and the introduction of an ombudsman’s position in the activities of the university;
educational materials on advocacy of students and student training;
ombudsman education and educational activities of participants in the educational process at each partner university;
research at the university to measure the impact of the student ombudsman’s office;
dissemination of the results of the project implementation;
Sustainable Development Plan for the Office of the Ombudsman.
The second day of the program was devoted to reports and discussions on the work of student ombudsmen. Particular attention was paid to discussing students’ problems at universities, quantitative and qualitative indicators of appeals and methodology of work of student ombudsmen.
After the conference, the program of the event provided for cultural visits to the sights of Georgia and gala party.
